Ann Busby, Chairman
Ann has a long and highly respected history of community leadership in High Point. She served as the first Executive Director of the newly established Communities in Schools which she very successfully led for 14 years. She has also served in a volunteer leadership capacity at numerous nonprofits including; Guilford Educational Alliance, Business High Point – Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Greater High Point, Inc., Say Yes Guilford Scholarship Board, and has been a long-term trustee at the High Point Community Foundation where she now serves as Chair.
Ann, a graduate of Salem College with a major in Latin and English, taught in high school in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. There she met her husband, Julian, who became a High Point physician specializing in obstetrics/gynecology. They have two grown children, Ann Parke Muller and Trent, who have given them four grandchildren, Spencer, Sam, Hines and Fletcher. Ann’s early teaching career inspired her daughter to become an elementary reading specialist at Forsyth Country Day School in Winston-Salem, NC. Her son lives in Salisbury, NC where he works as a certified financial planner.
