A total of 1043 Guilford County Schools’ students finished the 2018 fall semester at colleges with support from Say Yes to Education Guilford and its partners with a total impact of more than $2.7 million*.
The scholarship team will continue to review student data through the end of the academic year and grant awards for fall 2018 and spring 2019 based on eligibility requirements. This total includes students who received Say Yes Tuition Awards, Opportunity Grants, Choice Grants, Compact Scholarships and students who received awards directly from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Thanks to a partnership with UNC-CH, 141 Say Yes to Education Guilford students received tuition awards and opportunity grants totaling $85,850 directly from the university.
As a locally owned Say Yes to Education chapter, eligible Say Yes to Education Guilford students also have access to scholarships from about 100 private colleges and universities. More than 143 GCS students received Compact Scholarships in the fall of 2018, a value of about $2 million.**
The Say Yes to Education Guilford Scholarship team is now processing applications for spring 2019 while continuing to review student data still coming in for the fall 2018 semester. Final scholarship data for the 2018-19 academic school year will be certified in summer.
